Time Portal can export any of its "out of the box" data into a payroll software. However, when importing this data, sometimes the payroll software needs to know a little more information than Time Portal can support "out of the box".
For example, a payroll software such as CertiPay, has a requirement that a "Department" is supplied for every employee. Time Portal does not have a Department but, through the CertiPay Payroll Template, we are able to add a Department to some of Time Portal's tables. Payroll Template fields such as CertiPay's Department can be added to the following tables in Time Portal:
- Company
- Crew
- Job
- Location
- Employee

The Payroll Template field "Department" is located on the left side (1), and the available tables are located on the right side (2). To add the "Department" to a table, we check the checkbox next to the table name and then click on (3) Save Settings at the bottom of the page.

By adding a "Department" field to Time Portal's Employee table, we are then able to enter a "Department" of "Office", let's say, on each employee that is in the "Office" department. The "Department" is available on the employee's record (1) at the bottom of the page under a tab (2) by the name of the selected Payroll Template. In this example, it is CertiPay.
Now, Time Portal is able to export that "Department" with those employees so that the payroll software can map the data appropriately when it is imported.

You may have noticed that there is one additional checkbox called "Advanced". When this checkbox is checked, it reveals a text box input below it. This text box input allows us to generate a "Department" from multiple other data sources if needed. This is an advanced feature and is only required in rare scenarios.
