Use Clock in to start recording your own work in the new Time Portal Mobile app. This article covers Single User mode.
Before you begin
- Sign in and complete the initial download of your company information.
- Check that you are signed in to your own account.
- If your company requires location access, enable your device's location services and allow the app to use your location.
After initial setup, you can record work offline using the information stored on your device. Reconnect later to upload it.
1. Open Clock in
On Home, select Clock in. Review the time and date shown at the top of the screen.
If your company allows time changes, use the time control to correct the time before saving. Once you select a time manually, it stops advancing. The date stays today. Otherwise, the app uses the current time.
2. Complete your work details
Review the selections under Work details. Select a row to choose or change its value. Your company settings and selected job determine which fields appear.
- Job: choose the work you are starting.
- Grower and Location: Grower is an optional filter for the location list. Location appears only when your company tracks locations; its required or optional status follows your company policy.
- Crop variety: this appears only when your company tracks crop varieties. Your company policy determines whether a selection is required or optional.
- Piece rate and Unit of measure: complete these for piece or hourly-plus-piece jobs.
- Note: add a note if needed.
Required empty fields have an asterisk. If the screen shows a count of required details remaining, scroll through the form and complete those fields. The Clock in button stays at the bottom while you scroll.
Example with sample data. The piece rate, job, and available fields are examples; use the information provided by your employer.
Remembered choices and defaults
The app remembers your selections for the next clock-in, including Use default. A genuinely new clock-in starts with a fresh note.
In the Job, Location, and Crop variety lists, Use default is the first option. It uses the available default for your employee, then your crew, then your company. Review the resulting value before clocking in. A required field still needs a valid value when no usable default is available.
To clear Grower, choose No selection. Optional Location and Crop variety fields also offer No selection. This clears the value; it is different from asking the app to use a default.
3. Save your clock-in
- Check the time and work details.
- Select Clock in.
- Wait for the success confirmation, then select OK.
Your clock-in is saved on this device. Home should show that you are clocked in. Saving a clock-in does not by itself confirm that your employer has received it.
If you cannot clock in
- A required detail is missing: complete the field identified by the message and try again.
- Location access is required: follow the on-screen instructions or see Enable location access in Time Portal.
- A job or location is missing: connect to the internet and open the menu, then select Sync. Contact your supervisor if the selection is still unavailable.
- Your clock status looks wrong: review Time records before recording more work. Contact your supervisor or support if you need help correcting a record.
What happens next?
When you stop working, follow Clocking out. Review and approve completed work when prompted, then upload your records.
