As discussed in the topic What is Kiosk Mode, the Time Portal Kiosk can be placed into "punch mode" where it and other devices may all be used to collect clock-in, clock-out and piece collection activity. A separate topic describes how the Time Portal Kiosk can be used like a traditional wall clock, where employee attendance is captured onto a single device.
When Kiosk Mode is enabled with Punch Mode
When the Kiosk is placed in "Punch Mode", the Kiosk may become one of several devices on which a worker clocks in or clocks out.
This lets your workers, for example, clock themselves into a kiosk by the entry gate, record piece counts onto hand-held devices throughout the day, and then clock themselves out at another kiosk.
After all the devices have been uploaded, the Time Portal Web application will put it all together to create a single view of each employee's arrival, piece counts and departure.
Unlike Kiosk in Wall Clock Mode, this Kiosk requires that the employee tap "Clock In" or "Clock Out" before they scan their badge.
Once "Clock In" mode has been selected, for example, multiple employees can simply scan their badge to clock in without having to touch the screen. The "Cancel" button can be tapped to return to the main page when it's time for employees to start clocking out.
After the Employee has scanned the barcode or RFID badge, Time Portal will provide a visual confirmation of a successful clock-in or clock-out. The screen will reset after a few seconds but it is not necessary for the next employee to wait before scanning their badge. The "Continue" button may also be used to reset the screen.
Manual Entry
If an employee forgets their badge, or if a barcode scanner or RFID reader is not available, the Manual Entry ("Entrada manual" in Spanish) button may be tapped to display a keypad for entering the employee's badge number or employee number as shown below. Tap the Scan button to resume scanning.
How to enable Kiosk in Punch Mode
Please refer to the topic "Exiting Kiosk Mode", later in this article, to learn how to get out of Kiosk Mode and into the Main Page.
On the main page of Time Portal Mobile, tap the "Settings" icon to load the Settings Page then enable both "Punch Mode" and "Kiosk" as illustrated below. If you forget to enable Punch Mode, the Kiosk will behave as a wall clock.
Also, please enable "Upload In Background" which causes Time Portal to synchronize every few minutes, unattended.
How to specify the Crew, Crop Variety, Job and Location for Kiosk activity
To associate a Job, Location and/or Crop/Variety with each clock-in punch, tap the options such as "Please select variety" as illustrated at the bottom of the screen. It's OK if no default values are set, as they can be updated by the back office team if desired.
Ignore the option to Automatically Close and Upload Time Sheets
Since Time Sheets are not created on the kiosk when in Punch Mode, it is not necessary to specify whether Time Sheets will be closed and uploaded. If you set this value, it will be ignored.
Getting into the Kiosk
After enabling Kiosk Mode in the Settings Screen, the Kiosk option will be available as illustrated below.
Important: If you did not log in using a PIN, please tap "More", then use the "Change PIN" option to specify a PIN number which will be required to exit Kiosk Mode.
Tap the Kiosk option to place the system in Kiosk Mode. Once Time Portal has been placed into Kiosk Mode, it will stay in that mode, even if the application is restarted.
Exiting Kiosk Mode
Although Time Portal will upload information every 5-minutes, it may be necessary to exit Kiosk Mode to manually synchronize, review collected punch data, or change settings. Just tap the Gear Icon as illustrated.
When prompted, tap in the PIN number which was used to log into Time Portal Mobile and/or set up with the Change PIN option as discussed above. Time Portal Mobile will display the main page once the PIN has been correctly entered,
