Use this guide when your employer asks you to move from the previous Time Portal mobile app to the new Time Portal Mobile app. It covers employees recording their own work in Single User mode.
Before you switch
Confirm with your supervisor when to stop using the previous app and start using the new one. Choose a point between completed shifts so a single shift is not started in one app and finished in the other.
The new app starts with fresh local storage. It does not copy time records, an open shift, your PIN, or unsent work from the previous app. Signing in downloads the company information needed to begin using the new app.
1. Finish and send work in the previous app
- Finish any active work in the previous app and record the clock-out there.
- Review the recorded time and production, and complete any required approvals or signatures.
- Connect to the internet and use the previous app's sync or upload function to send outstanding work.
- Review its result. If any records remain unsent or the result is unclear, ask your supervisor or support to help before switching.
Do not uninstall the previous app or clear its data while it contains unsent work. Keep the original device available until outstanding records are resolved.
For instructions specific to the previous app, use Time Portal Mobile (Legacy). The screenshots below show the new app.
2. Install and sign in to the new app
- Use the installation instructions or app link provided by your employer.
- Connect to the internet and open the new Time Portal Mobile app.
- Choose your language.
- If necessary, select Switch to Access code login.
- Enter your account's Phone number and Access code, then select Log in.
Use the account information confirmed by your employer. Your PIN from the previous app is not transferred. If prompted, create and confirm a four-digit PIN for this installation.
See Signing in and setting up your PIN for the full setup steps.
3. Complete setup before starting work
- Keep the app open and connected while the initial company download finishes.
- Read the Sync result and select OK after setup succeeds.
- On Home, confirm that your own name is displayed.
- Open Clock in and check that the jobs, locations, and other selections needed for your work are available. Return without submitting until you are ready to start work.
- If your company requires location access, follow the app's permission instructions.
Example with sample data. A fresh installation has no local work history.
If setup fails or required selections are missing, resolve that with your supervisor before recording work. Offline use requires completed initial setup on this device.
4. Begin new work in the new app
At the agreed switching point, use Clock in in the new app. Record the matching clock-out, final piece count when needed, approval, and upload in this app as well.
Do not enter the same work in both apps. If you discover an unfinished shift in the previous app, contact your supervisor before creating another record to compensate for it.
For the normal workday flow, see Clocking in, Clocking out, and Uploading your records.
Where is my previous history?
The new app's Time records screen shows work stored by this app on this device. It does not import the previous app's local history or download a complete payroll history.
An empty Time records screen after setup does not mean previously uploaded work has been deleted from your employer's system. Ask your supervisor to confirm earlier records when needed; do not re-enter them just to make them appear in the new app.
If you need help switching
- Outstanding work in the previous app: keep that app and device available and contact your supervisor or support.
- Unknown sign-in information or no mobile access: contact your company administrator.
- Unclear switching date: ask your supervisor which app to use before starting another shift.
- New-app sync problem: read Sync details and see Resolving an upload problem.
