Punch/Scan Mode Setup and Use
Punch/Scan mode on an Android or IOS enables you to collect punch data and piece data using a NFC/RFID badge or fob or using a barcode badge.
The employee can clock in on once device, collect pieces on other devices and clock out on yet another device, all without connection to the Internet. Data collected from each device is eventually uploaded to the Time Portal web site and combined into Time Sheets for review. Employees may review and approve their work using reports produced by the web application.
To enable this functionality, you need to enable “Punch Mode” for all the devices used by that crew and select the scanning device. (Barcode Reader, Camera, NFC)
As illustrated below, the Items To Upload Indicator will let Crew Leaders know whether their information has been uploaded.
When a device is in Punch Mode, notice that the only options available are the Home screen, Summary Report and Scan mode. Time Sheets are not actually created on the device but instead will be created in the Web Application based on collected information.
The Home Screen displays the number of items to upload. Of those items, the number of employees, number of piece scans, number of clock ins and number of clock outs.
When the crew leader selects Scan, the Scan screen will display.
When clocking in employees, he will select the Scan Clock In mode. Next, he will select the Job (and possibly a grower, location and crop/variety) by clicking on the individual fields although these values are optional when in Punch Mode since they can be assigned on the web site. The worker will then scan their badge/fob to clock in.
Also, in Punch Mode, piece counts and weights can be collected for employees who have not clocked in on the device. It is recommended but not required that the employee is clocked in and out (on some device) before and after pieces and weights are collected.
After clocking in the workers, the crew leader will return to the Scan screen. To return to the Scan screen and select a different mode, click the back arrow.
To add pieces, select the Scan Pieces mode. On the Adding Pieces screen, you can select grower, location and crop/variety by clicking on the individual fields although these values are optional when in Punch Mode since they can be assigned on the web site. You can also define the number (Count) of pieces per scan. The default is 1 piece per scan.
Once the Adding pieces fields are defined, the workers can began scanning their badge/fob to add pieces.
To clock workers out, return to the Scan screen and select Scan Clock Out. The workers can began scanning their badge/fob to clock out.
